The Bounce

The Bounce is award-winning New Zealand journalist Dylan Cleaver’s newsletter on sport, the business of sport and other things loosely related to sport that debuted on September 6, 2021.

I cannot guarantee you’ll agree with everything you read in The Bounce, but I can promise it will come from the right place: a place of caring about sport, caring about its protagonists, caring about the future of it and caring about the legitimacy of it.

The Bounce will not necessarily obsess over the results of matches but, again, I cannot guarantee that.

Stick around for a while and you’ll be delivered sharp analysis, observations, narratives, profiles, punchy reads and long reads - the long reads will always be free. No matter what the style of story, it will be completely independent. The only people paying for content here will be you.

The point of dreaming is to go big, right? What I’d love to see The Bounce evolve into is a platform for emerging voices and some of my favourite sports thinkers and writers. If you join as a Founding Subscriber, you will be helping to make that happen.

In the future I see The Bounce: Podcast; I see live chats and merchandise. Ha, I’m joking about the merch, but I am intrigued to see where this goes. It’s all in The Bounce… it could go anywhere.

Dylan Cleaver, August, 2021
