That Shane Gibson story.....I'm well into my 70's and they come more easily now but you had a few tears prickling my eyeballs. What a great guy and what great courage and stoicism. A super piece of writing Mr Cleaver, one he deserved. Thanks.
Eve Rimmer was certainly memorable both as an athlete and an advocate for paraplegics.
However the librarians at the Pukekohe Public Library seemed to be unaware of her fame. My Dad who had a keen eye for oddball things, found her book in the gardening section of the PPL. I think Eve Rimmer would have found that amusing too.
Have a great festive season. I've really, and I mean really, enjoyed being a subscriber this year. More power to your arm. On Eve Rimmer -a remarkable life. From memory she very nearly won the overall Halberg in its previous iteration, pipped only by the gold medal rowing eight. You will enjoy the book. There is also a This is Your Life programme. I see it's in the archives on the Ngā Taonga website.
Have to agree with Sehwag's comments: if that test had have taken place in India, people would be outraged.
