Guptill left at the bottom of the toybox
PlayHQ's "shitshow" rollout; Fifa's big show rolls into Qatar; Canoe Racing NZ can't keep out of the news; and Rory's throwing shade again.
It might not be goodbye to Martin Guptill but at 36 and with Finn Allen playing Buzz Lightyear to his Woody, he’s going to have to do something fairly radical to worm his way back into Gary Stead and Kane Williamson’s affections.
If it is goodbye, it’s the second weird cricket farewell of a New Zealand great in 12 months. I’ve never really got my head around Ross Taylor “choosing” a low-impact ODI series against the Netherlands to bow out of international cricket, and it would be a great shame if Guptill’s last international was a low-key T20 tri series where he filled in for Williamson for a game.
