ENGLAND 325-9 dec & 374
NZ 306 & 126
Well that was dismal.
Not even Daryl Mitchell’s (57) pleasant but pointless red-inker could add any substance to New Zealand’s hopeless pursuit of 394.
Off to Wellington now, where, unless there are big swings in fortune, Brendon McCullum’s England will continue to take up rent-free residence in the collective minds of the Black Caps.
From the fourth over of this match to its conclusion, England have acted and New Zealand have reacted. Occasionally they have reacted well, Tom Blundell comes to mind, but mostly they’ve danced to England’s tunes like a drunk uncle.
