Dyls, your thoughts on Smith at half against Ireland? I get nervous against the best defensive teams when he's largely retired from triathlons nowadays to concentrate on biathlons.
Love it, thanks Dylan. You have a wonderful turn of phrase and, as someone who indeed found their favourite granola of special at the supermarket yesterday, I can well relate to Mr Stanaway. On the running shoes topic, a bunch of the other big players (most notably Saucony and Hoka) have marathon shoes to rival Nike and Adidas now, but those two have deeper pockets and seem to work harder in luring in the right runners to be winning those races. Kiptum was something to behold this morning, as was Sifan Hassan in the women's race. Crazy.
Dylan - do you have a comment on the refereeing of Tonga v England? Easy to go conspiracy theorist regards the powers not really wanting to see the Pacific nations show them up. Regardless of that, awarding a try, kicking the conversion and THEN making a TMO decision to disallow it over an infraction which seemed counter to making the game fun to watch.
Hi Sally, sorry for the super-late reply. As for Samoa-England I genuinely believe in the theory of unconscious bias when it comes to the minnow teams, but i don't think it has been as bad at this World Cup. Rugby is so bloody complicated in terms of rules and nobody is ever going to be 100% happy, but I think this has been pretty well officiated in general.
Woodward has clearly (conveniently) forgotten England's tour to Australia, NZ and Australia in 1998 where he coached them for 7 matches including 4 tests, returning 0 wins, 88 points for, and 328 against.
Can we just choose a song we can get behind....

Probably his best big test for a while, although I know the box kick with three to go wasn't popular.
Woodward...1998 tour to southern hemisphere?
Yes, several people have noted on various forums Woodward's startling hypocrisy, although he does address it in his column.
