Totally agree Matt. Promoting youth, especially when it’s banging down the door shouldn’t be so hard!

Maybe its in our blood that nz sports teams in general are conservative with their selections? Roigard in rugby, Nichols/Young/Ravindra in cricket, all examples of conservativism hindering progress? Sure there are more...

Agree with your Roigard insights. Fosters biggest weakness, in fact it was a failing, was selection. Yes the ABs could've done with a sparkplug in those last 20 minutes.

Lyds is back! Thanks in part to Jason Day. May her year continue in similar vein!

English FA may consider forfeiture of game if a team's supporters are found guilty of racists insults directed at players. Perhaps the same logic could be applied in the Phoenix situation?

Fascinating insights re: Roigard, especially the Bronco results, that tells the story of a guy who’s had a sniff and really wants it.

Re: wicket-keeper my personal view is that keeping and opening is a bridge too far for virtually anyone in test cricket, and also a job for specialists. Latham’s keeping was decidedly scratchy at the CWC and he’s struggling for runs also, so in my mind better to leave him to opening or, possibly push him down the order to keep & make way for Will Young at the top.

If they go for a like for like replacement then they should treat this as a one off and just go for the best option, regardless of age. Personally I find it hard to separate the three you mention, though perhaps Seifert appeals as white ball specialist, putting Cleaver and Fletcher in the box seats.

Come on Tom (Blundell), please be fit soon. We need even more help with DRS reviews than usual, as well as needing the runs.
