There is probably some content to be mined in fan voices about prized possessions (heirlooms!) - thinking about some of my own treasured (trashed through wear) sporting wearables, I can feel your pain there DC!
See, now you're turning into a proper Warriors fan. Starting to link small, routine events, such as missing the game live, into how the Warriors actually play is excellent progress.
The Masters; unless you are prepared to do your homework and put in the effort the event attracts from other serious commentators, you are probably best advised not to comment at all. To most golf fans it represents perhaps the year's pinnacle event. To have it mentioned so disdainfully, as per your report, doesn't do the event nor The Bounce justice.
Phew! That's harsh! TV coverage this year wasn't immediate because of the weather interruptions so only days one and four were truly live. That didn't make for compelling viewing. Perhaps it's the pinnacle event for you because of the exclusivity of the tournament. An invitation is required to join Augusta National. The first Black member joined the club in 1990. The first woman in 2013. The exclusivity has been carefully cultivated since the tournament's inception back in 1930. Speakers broadcast some of the birdsong. Areas of the course are sometimes sprayed with green paint because they're not the right green or heaven forbid, brown. Azaleas and magnolias in full bloom are carted in. Then there's the corny presentation of the cosy fireside chat and the presentation of the green jacket. The club chairman trots out his platitudes, the host broadcaster is suitably obsequious, the top amateur and last year's winner are shuffled off stage left and then we're treated to a reverential homily on the greatness of what we've just witnessed. Some disdain is definitely required.
"TV coverage this year wasn't immediate because of the weather interruptions so only days one and four were truly live." Absolute rubbish. As for weather delays not making it compelling viewing, this was the most watched Masters in years, with viewer numbers way up: https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2023/04/11/2023-masters-final-round-tv-ratings-cbs/?env=. I'm interested in the quality of the golf and the contest, not the irrelevant drivel to which most of your post refers.
I've been a Red Socks fan since reading Carl Yastrzemski book in the 1970s. Had to wait until 2004 for them to won another world series though — painful wait. Fascinating team with interesting history. Also picked New York Jets as an NFL team to follow at same time. Still waiting for that bunch of numpties to win something ...

What a skewering! Cheers.
I still have my 2012 World Series Red Sox t shirt (ordered online not in the states) which I can’t bring myself to depart with...
Likewise on that MMA competition. I honestly can’t see the appeal. The fact they now own WWE, which I would be more likely to watch, says it all
