There will be little to no mystery about it, but that’s not to say it won’t be without intrigue.
First and foremost, it will likely become clear that it is Tim Southee’s final test series as a Black Cap1. Losing the captaincy was a clear indication that his place in the playing XI was no longer guaranteed and with a paucity of test cricket for New Zealand over the next 18 months, now seems like the perfect time to say goodbye to what Americans would describe as New Zealand’s winningest test cricketer.
