Wouldn't you know it... the minute I press send, the minute this release comes out re coverage of the test series in Bangladesh!!
Monday 27 November 2023 – Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ today announced that it has secured the two-test cricket series between Bangladesh and New Zealand, commencing Tuesday, 28 November 4.00pm NZDT, only on ThreeNow.
After the Black Caps clinched the earlier three-match ODI series 2-0, with the first match being washed out, the Tigers will be out to avenge this Test series on home soil.
In a thrilling showdown, set to captivate Kiwi audiences, cricket fans can stream exclusively via the ThreeNow app, whether they are at home or in the office – Black Cap fans do not have to miss a minute of the action.
The 1st Test will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet, Bangladesh - and is the Black Caps first Test on Bangladeshi soil since 2013.
First Test: Tuesday 28 November to Saturday 2 December, live stream on the Three Sport pop up channel, available only on ThreeNow.
Second Test: Wednesday, 6 December to Sunday 10 December, live stream on the Three Sport pop up channel, available only on ThreeNow.
Murphy's law 😉 Opportunistic to get some rights cheap? Or a shot across the bow that this massive media company is going to get serious about sport despite financial issues elsewhere?
Almost certainly opportunistic uptake of cheap rights, and possibly just a data exercise to see how many eyeballs they can get to Three Now - which is massively underinvested compared to TVNZ+ - with live sport.
Obviously cricket are happy, hitting a free-to-air jackpot again.
I don’t get the move to GI for cricket, given everything you laid out previously. With all the chat about North Harbour stadium being redeveloped/rejigged/down sized, I wonder if there is an opportunity there for a test match ground. It already has the lights, embankments, space etc needed?
I watched some yesterday (started watching in time to see us burn our first review in the second over) and was grateful for the chance to do so but found the app clunky (not really suited to live sport) and when I went to see if I could watch the last session this morning it doesn’t appear to be there. If anybody in the sports streaming industry is reading this (!) - Spark Sport’s view live/view from start of session options were excellent, as were their highlights and full session packages after the day’s play.
I can’t understand no Ravindra either (would have had him in instead of Nicholls) but given Phillips’ success with the ball, that now makes sense in hindsight.
Agreed. Sounds wise in hindsight but I would have swapped him in for Nicholls and not Phillips. Watching Phillips last night it is clear why he’s getting picked, he’s bowling with great control and they will know that. He’s a straight swap for the injured Bracewell. Part of the trick to selection is knowing when to jettison the old journeyman for the young colt. Clearly Ravindra is the future and now is the time to pick him, whilst he’s on top form.
Just watching it now on TV3 Now. Apart from the unexpected viewing bonus I’m scratching my head at the selections. Nicholls and Phillips in ahead of Ravindra.

Let’s hope Ravindra plays next test - I’m going to really struggle to understand the reasoning for having him there if he doesn’t play at all.
